Summary of the Consumer Protection Act of 2027

After being lied to by AT&T on the phone several times, I eventually filed for arbitration under the terms of my agreement with AT&T. The process was relatively reasonable, as I was reimbursed the filing fee shortly after I filed. I explained all the time I had spent and how I had been misled by AT&T employees to a “higher up” in the company. I had recorded 12 hours of time input, and had many pages of notes, which I sent to AT&T. We quickly settled. But this was a matter that would not have been cost-effective for a consumer to pursue in court. (Being a lawyer probably didn’t hurt my cause.) The Consumer Protection Act of 2027 is designed to help consumer fight back and potentially recover $50 per hour for time spent fighting an injustice created by a major utility company such as AT&T.
